Agenda 2/26/19
  • Discussed student observations and progress on 5 paragraph essay- Topic:"Juvenile Murderers" 
  • Discussed alignment with English terminology
  • Supreme Court this week and how it directly affects the lives of teenagers, and next week moving into how the two party system was created.
    • Tie  two party system into current events in our political government. (Who supported it? Who did not? Why?)
  • Discussed behaviors and management of classroom. Course recovery after school is helpful for students who are currently failing.

PLC 10/30

Attendance:  Baldon, Duvall, Roy

Teachers have given the Civics test to their students:  Duvall had 23 pass on first round with 15 within 10 points and 10 within 20 points.   18 will need significantly more support.
Baldon had 20 pass.  18 within 10 points, 15 within 20 points and 13 will need significant support.

Next attempt will be in December during the window. Results are promising based upon the amount of material that has been covered at this point. 

Students will complete a reflection of the assessment.

Duvall's students will start Achieve 3000 next Wednesday and on the Block days. Gold team will utilize Achieve through Slinde, Hardesty and Duvall.

Blue team - Tentative

Teachers have decided to teach Civil Rights Amendments 13, 14, 15 to support the Constitution curriculum.  This material is very relevant to the students and teachers hope that students will respond well to the content.  Duvall  will use a graphic organizer and writing.  Baldon will discuss the Civil Rights leaders and have students make posters.   Teachers are using video and primary sources.  Students will focus on essential vocabulary.

Rubrics and Exemplars and their uses were discussed.

Concerns:  JCPS KTIP mentoring program.  Need more information from Jennie Currin.
